St. Francois County Release Meaning
A St. Francois County jail departure is not always freedom in the community. The sheriff may release a person on bond, recognizance, time served, probation, or after dismissal. The same departure can instead be a transfer to the Missouri Department of Corrections, another county, a federal authority, or immigration custody. A live roster is built to show present custody. Once a booking closes or moves, the name may vanish even though the court case and agency records remain.
The first useful question is simple: which system held the person last? The St. Francois County Jail creates the county booking and physical-release record. Farmington Correctional Center and Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center are state prisons whose records belong to MODOC. Federal Bureau of Prisons and ICE records require their own locators. A county record that says “released to” another agency describes a handoff, not a confirmed return home.
A missing name on a current roster proves only that the person is not displayed there. It does not identify release, transfer, discharge, escape, hospitalization, or another event.

The St. Francois County Sheriff’s public page does not provide a verified historical release index, so the useful approach is to request the existing booking sheet, release sheet, or custody-log entry for the named episode. Ask for the fields the agency maintains. Do not ask the custodian to create an explanation.

Missouri retention rules do not promise continuous online display. MODOC’s adult-institution schedule retains offender discharge files for 35 years, while probation and parole case folders have a 75-year post-discharge retention period subject to confidentiality. Those schedules address agency custody of records. They do not turn every file into an open web result.
Request St. Francois Release Records
Send a focused Missouri Sunshine request to the office that created the record. For a county jail booking, begin with the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Call first to confirm the current records custodian and submission method.
- Identify the person, approximate booking date, and booking number if known.
- Name the booking sheet, release sheet, custody-log entry, release date and time, release reason, and transfer destination as the records sought.
- Ask for electronic copies and an itemized cost estimate before work above a stated limit.
- Request the open, segregable portions if another part must be closed or redacted.
- Ask the custodian to cite the statute for each denial and preserve the response.
Chapter 610 generally requires action as soon as possible and no later than the end of the third business day. If immediate access is not possible, the custodian should give a detailed reason and the earliest availability date. Section 610.026 governs permissible copying and research charges. It does not establish a special fixed price for a St. Francois County release sheet, so request an estimate. Do not send a Social Security number. A birth date may be supplied privately only when it is needed to tell two people apart.

Why does the case remain after release? Bond, probation, and many other releases end custody but not the criminal case. Case.net may therefore remain active long after a name leaves a live jail list.
Find St. Francois Released Inmates
The best search path begins with the last known custodian, not with a broad name query. A current jail roster answers only whether a person is shown in present county custody. St. Francois County released inmates require a custody event, court entry, state supervision result, or agency record that fits the correct system.
- Determine whether the last location was the county jail, FCC, ERDCC, another Missouri prison, federal custody, or possible ICE custody.

Match at least two stable facts. Full name plus birth year, booking or offender number, cause number, offense, and court can separate similar names and multiple booking episodes. Do not publish extra personal data simply to show a match. St. Francois MODOC Release Search
The official MODOC Offender Search is for active offenders, including people in prison and people under probation or parole supervision. It expressly excludes discharged offenders. That limit changes how a result should be read. A field-supervised record may support release from prison while showing that the person remains under MODOC. No result does not prove discharge or a prior release.

Those underlying fields do not prove that every public profile displays the same labels. Record the screen’s exact words and retrieval date.
St. Francois Recent Release Records
No verified official St. Francois County webpage publishes a rolling list of people released in the last 24 or 72 hours. The sheriff’s official page provides jail contact information, but it does not state an update cadence, online retention period, released filter, or booking-photo field. A third-party directory cannot be relabeled as a county feed.
The sheriff endorses MobilePatrol for “inmates and bookings.” That statement does not promise a release tab or recent-release window. Likewise, an app description saying a service is available around the clock refers to access, not a rolling 24-hour dataset. The wider St. Francois County 72-hour release process uses jail contact, MOVANS, court dates, and a date-range records request rather than presenting a current roster as history.
Note: A just-entered event may lag a secondary portal, while a current roster can drop a name without explaining the cause.
St. Francois Release Notifications
Missouri now uses the MOVANS portal for local jail and court notification functions. The May 5, 2026 transition replaced older telephone-call and VINELink app delivery with SMS text and email for the current Missouri service. Search a county-jail person by the available identity fields or exact booking ID, select the correct record, read the custody event, and complete the portal’s current verification step.
MODOC custody notifications follow a different route after the transition. Authorized crime victims seeking state corrections notices use the MODOC Office of Victim Services. A MOVANS county-custody registration does not automatically create a court-event registration, and neither replaces the sheriff’s exact release sheet. The MSHP Sex Offender Registry is also separate. It applies only to people legally required to register and cannot serve as a general release list.
St. Francois Custody System Split
St. Francois County has an unusual search problem. Two large MODOC institutions sit near the county jail, and the Farmington Community Supervision Center is also on Doubet Road. A search for a “Farmington inmate” can easily reach the wrong agency. The jail at 1550 Doubet Road is a county detention operation. The supervision center at 1430 Doubet Road is a MODOC field and community-supervision facility. It is not a jail roster.
Farmington Correctional Center and ERDCC hold state prisoners. ERDCC also performs reception and diagnostic work, so a move from that institution may be classification transfer within MODOC. The county sheriff cannot certify a state-prison discharge. MODOC cannot provide the physical timestamp for an ordinary county jail release. That division should guide every lookup.
Does leaving ERDCC mean release? No. A different MODOC institution may simply have received the person after classification or reassignment. Check the full assigned-place and supervision status.
